Positive affirmations are useful because if we say them often enough we eventually believe them and accept them as our reality. What we believe we bring into our experiences. Affirmations are especially helpful if you find some that align with any goals you are hoping to achieve. Affirmations can be tricky though because you have to actually believe them. Which is why I generally try to start small or by beginning the affirmation with “I am willing…”
Below I’ve listed a few helpful tips to get you started with affirmations.
Pick 1-3 affirmations that have meaning to you. You can do an internet search or you can get an affirmation deck. I have one listed on my Amazon storefront here
Say the affirmations out loud or to yourself. *note: it should feel good/comforting when you do this*
Keep them real and achievable
Write them down and put them where you will see them
Set them as your phone wallpaper
Set affirmation reminder alarms to go off throughout your day
Make a routine of it and be consistent with it.
Say them first thing in the morning or before you go to bed
Meditate on them
Be patient! You have to be in this for the long haul As this is not a change that will happen over night.
Affirmations are a great step towards self improvement but they are not meant to be used as an alternative to therapy. So just as a gentle reminder that if you are suffering from a psychological condition please seek help from a qualified medical professional. Your mental health matters. You matter.
*Disclaimer: if anything is ever purchased from my amazon storefront I do earn a small commission. :)
