"I am willing to let go of my self-doubt. I surrender to self love." -May Cause Miracles

Self-doubt looks different for everyone, but for me, it would look like: not doing my passion, not leaving my job, not asking for a raise, not voicing my opinion, minimizing myself and capabilities, and so on. I doubt myself in all areas of my life because I fear failure, rejection, confrontation, and disappointment. I became fearful of ever trying anything that required confidence. Doubt and fear became my safe haven. It caused some heavy sadness in my life and left me feeling dis-empowered. One day, I decided that I was tired of settling. I was tired of just surviving; I wanted to live. Sound familiar? I wanted to take back my power by facing my fears and letting go of my self-doubt. Doing so has given me so much joy and happiness in my life. I still get uncomfortable and fearful sometimes, but I use four techniques to help me release that self-doubt and reclaim my confidence:

  1. Feel your feelings: you read that right. Take slow deep breaths: in through your nose and out of your mouth. Witness the fearful thoughts and feelings, and gently say to yourself, “thank you, but this fear is no longer serving me. I am willing to let this go.” This allows you to call out your fear; take away its power.

  2. Power Pose: I always take a nice deep breath when I do this. Stand up, feet apart, hands on your hips (optional), shoulders back, and stand tall. Studies show that this makes you feel powerful, and I totally agree!

  3. Recite affirmations: my favorite one is the May Cause Miracles affirmation above, but here are my other favorites I use when I’m returning myself back to loving thoughts: I am worthy of being successful, I am capable, I believe in my capabilities, I am worthy of getting paid for my passions, what I have to say and what I do is important, I am valuable. I use these whenever I attack myself with fear, doubt, or judgment. Sometimes, I even recite them in the mirror before I head out for the day.

  4. Visualization (my favorite): close your eyes, and take a long deep breath. Imagine yourself doing what you want and use your imagination to create a positive outcome. Take your time and have fun with this.

I use all four and frequently use them throughout my day, but let this practice meet you where you are. Maybe you want to try technique number one for a day (I started with one and three) before you move on to incorporating all of them into your daily activities. Whatever works best for you; is all that matters. Getting rid of your self-doubt and fear will welcome more confidence, peace, and happiness into your life, and who doesn’t want more of that? It’s time you stop settling; start going after the things you want. I am so proud of you. I hope you are proud of yourself! Love you big.

xoxo,

Kailly
